Educational Toys for Kids

Educational toys are definitely a popular pick for presents this holiday season.  There are some amazing educational toys designed to spark your child’s imagination and provide wonderful learning opportunities.  The latest technological toys are great, but I believe that children need the opportunity to play with traditional educational toys such as blocks, Legos, and checkers.

Recently, I was playing doll house with my five-year-old daughter.  She wanted the dollhouse people to have a birthday party.  We cut the birthday cake out of construction paper, and made decorations out of gift wrapping paper.  She realized that there was not a table for the house.  I told her that she might be able to buy a table for the doll house soon.  She proudly said, “No, Mom.  I will just make one out of blocks. We don’t need to buy one.”

I retell this story because she loves to create things and use her imagination.  Honestly, she really doesn’t know how to play video games and doesn’t really enjoy them.  There will be many opportunities to catch up on the latest technological advance soon enough.  For now, I want her to create things and use her imagination.  Educational games give children the opportunity to do just that.  With busy schedules and many structure activities for kids today, they often don’t get much of a chance to enjoy unstructured play time.

If you are giving a special gift to a child this holiday season, I would encourage you to consider finding an educational toy that promotes imaginative play.  It’s a gift that’s priceless and will create many great childhood memories.

Children’s Toys Of Today

The toys around nowadays are certainly not the same kinds of toys the parents of the children were used to playing back in their days. No longer are children using things like Hornby trains but playing things like video games and action hero toys like Ben 10. These are just some of the toys that kids are used to playing now.

Video Games

It certainly seems that these are on the increase when it comes to kids playing them nowadays. So many people out there seem to have the opinion that computer games are out there for the young, this is complete rubbish. So many older generations are into gaming now and this is a great thing indeed and I think they are taking over from the kids, it makes sense, a lot of people grew up playing video games, why should they stop. If you have not sat down and played video games with your kids then trust me, you are missing out on a lot.

RC Models

Things like RC helicopters are still very popular among children nowadays and this is because the technology behind them has advanced along with the new people that are really interested in buying them. The same applies for things like RC tanks and all of the other remote control technology too. Companies know that people are still going to be interested in these products.

Other than the above options I can really not see a big change in the industry since the 90s and around the time that plastic figures got popular, they are still made but just for different programmes, films and themes. One of the key things to remember from all of this is to spend time with your children.
